The following is a guide to help you as you make a decision on which golf GPS unit is right for you. Here are some of the most popular golf gps units on the market.

The Garmin Approach

The Garmin Approach is a waterproof unit with a 3" touchscreen.  There is no annual fee. It comes preloaded with US courses, which includeds the hazards, fairways and greens.  You can download new courses from the Garmin website.  The Garmin Approach also includes a digital scorecard for up to four players.

The Golf Logix

The Golf Logix is a very user friendly GPS.   It holds up to 20 courses and you can download over 21,000 courses from the website.   It is a waterproof and shockproof device.  The Golf Logix will measure exact distances to the front, center and back of greens and display potential hazards.

The uPro by Callaway

The uPro by Callaway is small, and can fit in your pocket.  It has satellite and aerial images of the course.   The uPro can clearly detect hazards and flagsicks.

The IZZO Swami 1500

The IZZO Swami 1500 is a newer unit that can store up to 10 golf courses at a time.  It's compatible with over 12,000 courses,  It's designed for beginner to intermediate golfers, and will calculate the distance to the front, center and the back of the green.

The iGolf

The iGolf is highly rated among users.  It's one of the smallest units.  It's accurate with 1-3 yards.  The iGolf holds up to 10 courses at a time.  In additional to distances from the front, center and back of green, you can also add up to 4 custom pointes.  You can even see how far you hit each club on average.

The SkyCaddie SG5

The SkyCaddie SG5 is waterproof, and has a large LCD screen with automatic backlighting.  You can get the full depth and the shape of the green from any angle.  This does require a membership.

The GPS golf guru 

The GPS golf guru allows 4 users to play at once.  You can also listen to music, view pictures, and play movies.  It's a 20 channel gPS and has free access to 20,000 courses.  You can download your statistical ifnormation onto a computer to analyze, such as the distance of each shot, and if you tend to hit the ball to the right or left.

The Sonocaddie V300

The Sonocaddie V300 shows your position on the fairway.  It personalizes the course information for each hole to match the exact course layout.   The Sonocaddie has a built in scorecard and game analysis program.

The Bushnell NeoGolf GPS

The Bushnell NeoGolf GPS has a large LCD display with a backlight.  It provides the distance to the front, center and back of green.   The NeoGolf stores up to 10 courses and will allow you to download up to 100 courses.  A membership is required.

The OnPar GPS

The OnPar GPS has 3.5" high resolution touchscreen.  It stores up to 300 golf courses.   You can view the distance from yourself to any target, track your shots, and get club suggestions based on your average distance for each club.

The Golf Buddy Tour GPS Range Finder

The Golf Buddy Tour GPS Range Finder is waterproof, has a color display, and holds 20,000 courses, which all come preloaded.  There are no annual or download fees.   It also comes with a scorecard.

The Sonocaddie v100

The Sonocaddie v100 displays the distance to the green, and give you your shot distance.  You can personalize your course settings.
