This device is basically one thing and does it well: it shows the distance to the green. One of the four buttons, labeled FCB, through the cycles of the distance to the front, center and back of the green, so it is possible to determine the depth of green color as the difference between the front and back. The other three buttons on / off, next hole, and the previous hole. No touch screen, recording results, weather reports, etc. This is my assessment, based on limited (several rounds) of experience: Simple and efficient Pros + + Exact (within a few feet in the course markers and center of green) + Good battery life (at least 4 shots per charge) + Includes AC adapter / USB (no need to computer to load the device) + LCD screen large numbers easy to see at a glance + No problems with the software, configuration, course selection, downloading + Good value, considering the base price and $ 10 annual fee data Neutral plastic clip or tape – I wonder how long until it breaks or Full size not small, but efficient use of space front surface with the LCD and buttons. or Ten (10) current capacity is reasonable Cons – A bit thick: almost 1 "at the widest point on the belt clip. – USB / charging port is not protected. What will happen when it gets wet? – Only go to the belt clip in one direction. If your belt, you have to look at the numbers and reverse controls. Or, if you trim the setback, the risk of falls off the tape or clip. [End of review 10/17/09]

I bought the unit and received in a very timely manner. The unit was easy to program by downloading it from the courses on the website. There is a $ 10 annual fee to access the web in order to add courses and downloads software updates (CD and instructions included with the unit). You are not required to renew every year. The unit holds up to 10 coarse, which can change if you want or you can just have the 10 and never needs to access the website again. There were two courses I wanted were not on the list. I have asked and are assigned to 4-5 days. I was notified that they were available and added to the unit without any problems. I used my unit in a course that had GPS on the car and read Swami unit within 5 meters yards observed in GPS system to buy (for my game, which is close enough). I recommend this unit as excellent value for money.

In short, this is the best deal on a golf course's entry level GPS out there. All it does is lock onto the satellites quickly recognize the course you are playing without any input from you, and tell you how far is the center back or front of the green. It is continually updated as it moves, and all you have to do is press the ^ button after each hole, move to the next. Reading is big enough for distance, so you can grab the shopping carts, when allowed in the grass, but is more than small enough to fit comfortably in your pocket. If you are good enough to need all hazzards distances at each hole, and are willing to pay at least twice more, look elsewhere. Otherwise, this unit is about $ 100 is the bomb. Make sure the wall charger included, because some vendors are lowballing this unit without telling you it is not in the box. (Charging with the included computer cable requires your computer and its software is running, and this may be a bit annoying at times.) Your current annual rate of discharge is only 10 $, 35 $ not everyone wants. Only has 10 courses at once, but other downloading is easy and will map any course for which you do not. (had all I wanted is already assigned) The charge lasts 12 hours but must be responsible enough to turn it off when finished, Izzo might consider correcting something in the future with an auto shutdown.

Swami bought the 1500 because all you really need is a distance number, front, back and center. Three of my teammates went from between $ 275 and $ 450 in the GPS units to obtain the same information yards. Granted the Swami does not publish its results, do a statistical analysis of their game, has a color screen, show the shape of the green and all that other trick. Just give me the number so I can get the ball on the green. For $ 125 worth the money. There was a local field that was not assigned and even within 6 days after the request I received an email saying he was ready to go. Great Service.

SkyCaddie and I constantly have problems with the footage. It is painful to have to pay for a new subscription for a product that worked about 50% of the time. So when I saw the Swami went to find out what it would cost about the same as a couple of years subscription to SkyCaddie. I play the same courses as most of the time, so I doubt you have to do an upgrade beyond the 10 I download. The device works very well. Easy to read and front, center, behind the green is really all I need. I found the installation easy once I had read other reviews and realized I had to follow the instructions carefully. I think this is a great value.
